CONVEGNO INTERNAZIONALE JEAN MONNET "ANTIDISCRIMINATION IN EUROPE  

 

 

Il principio di antidiscriminazione, soprattutto di genere, ha avuto ed ha un ruolo fondamentale nella costruzione del percorso di integrazione europea. Esso è stato sempre centrale nel dialogo tra la UE e le culture nazionali; è l'indispensabile tassello di una Europa "sociale" e sensibile ai diritti; è il passante più intenso del rapporto tra le istituzioni europee e i nostri modi concreti di vivere e di rappresentarci.

Ne discutiamo a Cagliari il 23 maggio insieme ad alcune delle personalità che nel dibattito scientifico europeo, soprattutto nel campo del diritto costituzionale, ma anche da altre discipline, hanno più approfondito questi temi.

 

Antidiscrimination is today the main paradigm, and perhaps the symbol

itself, of the process of European integration. Apart from having played a

fundamental role in the history of the relationships between EU and

Member States, as well as in the establishment of primacy of EU law and in

the shaping of a ‘social’ and right sensitive EU, the principle of

antidiscrimination is a code that embraces a set of ideas and public

expectations concerning the role and the activities of public powers, the

relation between public powers and individuals and among individuals

themselves. This meeting is dedicated to discuss the complex – often

ambiguous, ever challenging – narrative of antidiscrimination.

This conference forms part of the activities of the Jean Monnet Chair of

European Law EU Policies on Gender: Building a New European

“Menschenbild”? awarded by the European Commission EACEA Erasmus –

Lifelong Learning Programme to the University of Cagliari, Political Sciences
